Staff Associates is a dynamic Human Resources Consultancy, operating since 1984. Staff Associates is registered as an Industrial Psychologist Practice, with the HPCSA.

Recruitment and Selection
Staff Associates follows a procedurally fair and non-discriminatory process of identifying the best possible candidates for a position. To ensure that recruitment decisions are consistent and fair, our trained interviewers use a behaviourally-based selection system. Only job-related information that reflects a candidate’s abilities and motivations are gathered. Unique interviewing techniques help to avoid areas of inquiry that might violate employment regulations.
We observe and ensure compliance with all requirements and obligations as set out in the Labour Legislation of South Africa, inter alia, the following:
- Skills Development Act, 97 of 1998 (“SDA”);
- Employment Equity Act, 55 of 1998 (“EEA”);
- Basic Conditions of Employment Act, 75 of 1997 (“BCEA”);
- Labour Relations Act, 1995 (“LRA”);
- Occupational Health and Safety Act, 85 of 1993 (“OHSA”); and
- Compensation for Occupational injuries and diseases Act no. 130 of 1993 (“COIDA”)
Permanent and Temporary Staff
We render a quality personalised permanent recruitment service. Comprehensive Curriculum Vitae’s containing the relevant skills and employment history of the candidate are provided to our clients.
A risk assessment is optional. This includes:
- ID document, work permit, permanent residence certificate etc.

Staff Associates has a Temporary Employment Service in the following fields:

An extensive database of Temporary Staff who are interviewed and selected in exactly the same manner as Permanent Staff. Care is taken in scrutinising qualifications whilst thorough reference checks are done.
The administration and payment of temps are done on a weekly/monthly basis.
A confidentiality agreement is signed by our temps to safeguard client privileged information.
Temps understand the nature of temporary assignment and we ensure that no expectations of permanent employment are created.
Employee benefits are administered and paid by Staff Associates.
Advert Response Handling
Staff Associates has a division that provides our clients with an advert response-handling service which will assist our clients with their selection process. This can be structured in a variety of ways and customised to our customer’s requirements, which may include compiling the advert, recommending the most appropriate media; receiving and short-listing CV’s and conducting interviews end reference checks.
Fee basis and terms of payment
Below our fee structure, based on gross annual income/package including bonuses, 13th cheques and all allowances.

Fees are payable within fourteen (14) days of the candidate commencing employment in order to qualify for the three (3) month guarantee.
In the event of a temporary assignee of Staff Associates being offered and accepting a permanent position within six (6) months of the last day of the assignment, the client will be charged a percentage of the new employee’s annual salary as follows.

If, within a period of 3 (three) months from taking up an appointment, the candidate’s employment is terminated for a valid reason, Staff Associates will undertake to replace the candidate. The 3 (three) month guarantee period shall not apply should the termination of an employee be as a result of:
- A layoff for operational requirements;
- A substantial change in the job description or reporting structure;
- A change in ownership; or
- Any other reasons beyond the employee’s control
Should the employee be deemed unsuitable for the position, the employer will be required to substantiate the reasons for the candidate’s unsuitability.
The guarantee period will only be valid and binding if payment is received within the agreed period of fourteen (14) days after commencement.
Requests for credit/replacements must be submitted to Staff Associates within five (5) working days of the last day of employment or as soon as the employer becomes aware of any work-related problem.
Psychometric Testing
Staff Associates employs a full-time Industrial Psychologist. We are therefore in a position to render an assessment service to our clients as we have employees that are registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa. Psychometric products include: PPA Profiles, OPQ Profiles of SHL and Psytech's products.
Labour Relations
As a direct result of the new Labour Relations Act (LRA), which was implemented on 11 November 1996, employers have the right to be represented by Officials of an Employer Organisation. Through CONPPEO, a cost-effective and efficient service is rendered to employers. Services include:
- Day-to-day advice and attendance
- Negotiations and related attendances
- Recognition agreement negotiations and other collective agreements
- Strike attendances and settlement negotiations
- Seminars and regular updates for members on current Labour Law
- Appearances by our lawyers at all levels of the CCMA, including conciliation meetings
